Local Ficksburg Cherry Festival Master of Ceremonies, Gavin Boy, tells us how the festival impacts on the beautiful little town’s economy. “We have something that most of South Africa does not have, cherries, and of course the breath-taking Maluti mountains which can be covered in snow at times,” he says.
Johan du Toit, Chairman of the Ficksburg Cherry Festival Committee tells viewers what to expect at the festival which has grown from 400 people attending the event during its first year, to over 22 000 people last year.
Sticking with the economy of the town, CEO of ZZ2, Tommie van Zyl, talks to show host, Theo van Zyl about the Mooketsie Market and its influence on the local community.
Thereafter the cameras drop in at Ionia Cherry farm to speak to owner Rene Scheepers who sheds some light on the intricacies of cherry farming. Next up, Show anchor, Rozanne McKenzie chats to show regular Lindie Stroebel, General Manager of the Produce Marketing Association who gives us an insight into the business of cherries.
